The Island Storm have captured its fourth straight home-court win after a 122 - 102 rout of the Niagara River Lions.
The Storm came sprinting out of the gates with a pair of three-pointers from Andre Stringer and Chris Johnson. They continued their first quarter dominance en route to a 36 - 14 lead headed into the second.
The River Lions roared back with a 9 - 0 run to start the second quarter. They continued the offensive pressure and cut the Storm lead down to 10 mid-way through the frame.
The teams went back and forth until Niagara chipped away and only trailed 52-47 late in the half despite Brad States’ best effort. He had 14 points on near flawless shooting at the break (4-5 FG, 6-6 FT).
The Storm led 59-52 at the halftime buzzer.
The River Lions didn’t let off the gas early in the second half. They took their first lead of the game, 66-64, five minutes into the third.
Stringer quickly replied with a three-pointer and took the lead back.
Baskets were traded for the rest of the quarter until the Storm pulled away to a 90-79 lead headed into the fourth thanks to a three-point barrage from Tyler Scott.
The Storm’s offensive expertise continued throughout the fourth. They grew upon their lead and closed out their fourth straight home win 122 - 102. Scott finished with a game-high 26 points off of the bench and Stringer notched a 21-point double-double.
The Storm are headed to Halifax for a Sunday matinee on Dec. 17. The squad will return to Charlottetown for a marquee Boxing Day matchup with the Moncton Magic.
