Storm hit with injury bug

Released: January 30, 2017

Over the past week the Island Storm has suffered a slew of injuries that saw the team start only one of its regular starters in Halifax yesterday.

The shorthanded Storm was without Terry Thomas, Nick Okorie, Tirrell Baines and AJ Stewart on Sunday and were handed a loss by the top placed Hurricanes. Without those four players the Storm is missing a combined 60.6 points, 24.4 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game.

Terry Thomas could miss the most time out of the group after suffering an eye injury against Halifax on January 12. Thomas is being re-evaluated this week but is listed as doubtful for Thursday night.

Nick Okorie suffered a deep thigh contusion in practice on Saturday and is listed as probable for Thursday night's home game.

Tirrell Baines is nursing a slight ankle sprain sustained during last week's home game against Cape Breton, he's likely to play Thursday.

AJ Stewart has been out of the lineup for over a week with a lower back strain from a practice last Wednesday. His status is listed as questionable for Thursday.

Our next home game on February 2nd is our annual Newcomers Game, sponsored by New Neighbours PEI Real Estate. Anyone registered at the PEI Association for Newcomers to Canada can drop by their office for a free ticket to the game.

Tickets for Thursday's game against Halifax can be purchased here.
