Story by Jordan Ramsay
The Island Storm lost for the first time at home this season 122-114 to the Cape Breton Highlanders on Thursday night at the Eastlink Centre.
Nick Okorie’s team high 22-points were not enough to handle the Highlanders and Chad Frazier who exploded with a game high 37-points.
The Storm started off shaky before fighting back and trailing 30-28 after the first quarter.
After a strong start to the second quarter the Storm finished the first half with a 57-52 lead.
The back and forth action continued throughout the third quarter and the nail-biting game was tied at 87 going into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter was a tale of two teams for the Storm as they dominated the first half of the quarter up by as much as 10-points before slipping.
The Highlanders clawed their way back into the game in the last six-minutes of the game on the backs of Chad Frazier’s effort with Shaquille Keith chipping in with 21-points of his own.
Next up for the Storm is a home-and-home starting in Halifax against the Hurricanes on Sunday Jan. 29 at 2 p.m.
The Storm will finish the home-and-home with Halifax at the Eastlink Centre on Thursday Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. Stay tuned for a special announcement regarding this game.
