The Island Storm has announced Terry Thomas will miss the next 3-4 weeks with a sprained thumb.
“This is certainly and unfortunate blow for our ball club and is really coming at a bad time, as I believe we have started playing better basketball as of late,” said Storm coach Joe Salerno.
Thomas, a 6-foot-4 guard from Dartmouth, NS, joined the team this season after one year of professional basketball overseas. In 23 games this season Thomas has averaged 11.1 points and 5.3 rebounds, and has started in six games for the team.
Salerno acknowledged the value of Thomas and will be looking for other players to step up in his absence.
“Terry has played a big role for us this season, and really has been on our most consistent players on both sides of the ball.
Thomas, one of the team’s five Canadians, was signed prior to this year’s training camp. Prior to his professional career Thomas spent time playing for St. Francis Xavier University before transferring to the University of Ottawa.
The Storm are back at Eastlink Centre on Thursday, March 17th at 7 p.m. when they welcome the Saint John Mill Rats on St. Patrick's Day.
