Storm bring back fan favoruite Alex Desroches, release Billy Rush and Lovell Cook

Released: January 11, 2016

In an early season move to add some Canadian firepower, the Storm has brought back fan favourite Alex Desroches.

Desroches, who spent much of the summer and fall months playing professionally in Australia, is back on PEI for his second stint with the Storm.

“Of course we are excited to bring Alex back,” said Storm coach Joe Salerno. “He was a great piece for us last year, and someone we were hoping to bring back at the start of this season.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Dieppe, NB spent last season with the Storm averaging 5 points, 3 rebounds, and shot 61 per cent from the field in just 12.5 minutes per game.

Known as a high-energy player, Desroches could easily spark the crowd just by entering the game.

“His energy is contagious and he brings the same work ethic day in and day out.”

Salerno is hoping to have Desroches in uniform on Friday when the team takes on the Windsor Express.

The Storm has activated Brent Jennings from the IR list. The team’s leading scorer has been sidelined with a lower leg injury but is now expected to play on Friday.

The team has also released Billy Rush and Lovell Cook.

“This was obviously a tough decision in letting Billy go. He is a very good player, and a great person, but we felt it was time to make some changes,” said Storm coach Joe Salerno. “We certainly appreciate all the Billy has done for us both on the floor and in the community ad wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
