It was the Halifax Hurricanes first trip to PEI and it was a successful one.
The Hurricanes knocked off the Storm 115-112 in front of more than 2,000 fans on New Year’s Eve in Charlottetown.
Justin Johnson led all scorers with 27 points while adding 10 assists for Halifax.
Mike Martin led the Storm offense with 23.
Halifax advances to 3-1 on the season while the Storm falls to 1-2.
The Storm started strong in front of an excited crowd, and took a 27-22 lead into the second quarter behind a great start from Brent Jennings.
In the second quarter both teams battled back and fourth but it was still the Island with a lead going into the half.
In the third quarter the Storm began to dominate, and at one point were up by as many as 15 points. But it was the faithful fourth quarter that would prove deadly for the Island as Halifax began to claw back and took their first lead of the game with less than two minutes in the quarter.
Other top scorers for Halifax included Mike Glover with 24 and Shane Gibson who notched 22.
Brent Jennings added 18 points for the Storm.
The Storm next play on Saturday when they rematch the Saint John Mill Rats.
On the road for the next four games, the Storm will next play at Eastlink Centre on Jan. 10 against Saint John at 2 p.m.
